Microsoft May Be Considering Investing in Bitcoin
At the end of yesterday, financial analyst MacroScope revealed a new SEC filing indicating that Microsoft is considering investing in Bitcoin. The filing stated that Microsoft is set to vote in December on whether to invest in the cryptocurrency.
Initially, it seemed unlikely that Microsoft would make such a move, especially after it was revealed that the company’s board was recommending shareholders to vote against the proposal. The board stated that they already carefully consider the topic of investing in Bitcoin.
However, there is hope for Bitcoin enthusiasts as MacroScope shared an update that Microsoft is urging shareholders to vote against the proposal because their management is already looking into the matter. If Microsoft were to follow in the footsteps of MicroStrategy, it would be a significant milestone for Bitcoin, as Microsoft is currently the third largest company in the world by market capitalization.
The possibility of Microsoft investing in Bitcoin is still uncertain, but Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, has reached out to Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, to discuss the potential investment. Saylor is known for his understanding of the importance of holding Bitcoin on a company’s balance sheet.
While Saylor advocates for holding actual BTC, he also acknowledges that some companies may prefer to invest in Bitcoin through other means, such as purchasing shares of Bitcoin ETFs. If Microsoft decides to invest in Bitcoin, they may opt for buying shares of BlackRock and other Bitcoin ETFs.
Regardless of how Microsoft chooses to invest, one thing is clear: Bitcoin has become too significant to ignore, even for the largest companies in the world.
