Off the Grid, the avalanche-based battle royale shooter, has just launched its most significant update since entering early access in October. The latest patch notes, as reviewed by Decrypt, reveal a slew of changes that are sure to shake up the gameplay experience for players.
One of the standout features of this update is the reworked scoped weapons system. In previous builds, using scoped weapons like sniper rifles felt jarring for players due to the transition from third to first person. However, the new Proper First-Person Perspective in Aim Down Sights mode, also known as TrueFPV, has greatly improved the feel of using scoped weapons. With new reticles, field of vision tweaks, and accuracy changes, players will now have a much smoother and more immersive experience when using these weapons.
In addition to the scoped weapons overhaul, the update also brings significant performance improvements to the game. Players can expect a 10% to 20% boost in frames-per-second (FPS) on PC, while console players can choose between fidelity and performance modes, with the latter offering up to a 40% improvement in performance.
Backpacks in Off the Grid have also received some changes, primarily focused on improving visual effects to better convey their purpose. For example, the limb accelerator backpack now shows when a cyberlimb is being charged. However, the Gridshield Backpack has been nerfed to reduce only 50% of zone damage, compared to its previous full protection.
Furthermore, the update includes four pages of weapon and cyberlimb changes that are set to mix up the game’s meta. Movement in the game has also been tweaked, leading to some complaints from Discord users about the game feeling slower than before. These changes are said to be in preparation for an upcoming ranked mode, adding more depth and competitiveness to the gameplay experience.
With Off the Grid already making waves in the gaming community and even surpassing Fortnite in popularity on the Epic Games free-to-play PC game list, this latest update is sure to keep players engaged and excited for what’s to come. Stay tuned for more highlights from this massive update and get ready to jump back into the action-packed world of Off the Grid.
