Status and Linea Collaborate to Launch Status Network, a Layer-2 Rollup Solution
In a groundbreaking collaboration, decentralized messaging platform Status and zero-knowledge-powered layer-2 blockchain Linea have joined forces to create a new rollup solution called Status Network. Announced on August 20, this partnership aims to leverage Linea’s layer-2 technology to enhance the capabilities of the Ethereum-based Status platform.
Status, which successfully raised $100 million in its initial coin offering back in 2017, is set to become the first contributor to Linea’s open-source code as part of this collaboration. The new platform, Status Network, is designed to integrate Status’s mobile and desktop apps with Ethereum ecosystem, supporting SocialFi and GameFi while providing a platform for governance experiments and incorporating the Status voting system.
Cyprien Grau, a core contributor at Status, emphasized that the ultimate goal of Status Network is to scale Ethereum horizontally. By partnering with Linea and rolling out the L2 solution, Status aims to boost interoperability and aid in Ethereum’s scaling as a leading layer-1 network. This collaboration is also expected to strengthen Linea’s ecosystem, further promoting decentralization.
Nicolas Liochon, global lead at Linea, highlighted the synergy between the two projects, stating that the collaboration with Status is a natural fit given their significant contributions to core Ethereum operations and strong consumer-facing focus through the Status app. Operating Status Network alongside Linea will unlock new opportunities for users within the Status ecosystem, enhancing the platform’s capabilities and reach.
Overall, the collaboration between Status and Linea to launch Status Network represents a significant step forward in the development of layer-2 solutions on Ethereum. With a focus on scalability, interoperability, and decentralization, this partnership is poised to drive innovation and growth within the blockchain ecosystem.
