The creators of the popular Ethereum NFT card game Parallel have announced their latest project at Token2049 in Singapore. The new game, codenamed “Project Tau Ceti,” is a 3D first-person shooter set on a sci-fi planet where players will battle using their Parallel NFT avatars.
Unlike their upcoming game Colony, which will be launched on the Solana blockchain, Project Tau Ceti will be built on Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network Base, specifically on the newly launched B3 layer-3 gaming network. The decision to use B3 was based on its technology and team experience, making it the ideal choice for the ambitious project.
B3.fun, the gaming network where Project Tau Ceti will be hosted, was launched in August by NFC Labs, a development team founded by former Coinbase employees. The network kicked off with a web-based crypto arcade platform called BSMNT, attracting attention for its focus on gaming and innovative features.
Parallel, known for its unique take on competitive card battlers like Hearthstone, is a free-to-play game with optional NFT cards and crypto token rewards. Project Tau Ceti, on the other hand, aims to expand the Parallel universe with a completely different gaming experience.
The game will leverage Parallel’s extensive library of 3D assets, including characters, weapons, and creatures, to create an immersive and challenging gameplay environment. Developed in partnership with a third-party studio using Unreal Engine 5, Project Tau Ceti promises to deliver a fresh and exciting gaming experience for players.
While the team continues to work on Tau Ceti, they remain committed to updating the TCG and preparing for the Alpha release of Colony. The game is set to enter early alpha testing on PC in 2025, with plans for mobile and console versions to follow the initial release.
Stay tuned for more updates on Project Tau Ceti as it progresses towards launch. And don’t forget to check out Parallel on Ethereum and Base for a taste of what’s to come in the Parallel universe.
