Minister Şimşek: Stock Market and Cryptocurrency Taxes Not on the Agenda
As Turkish investors closely monitor the issue of taxation of cryptocurrencies, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has made a significant statement. He mentioned that stock market and cryptocurrency taxes are currently not on the agenda.
In an interview with the Economy newspaper, Minister Şimşek clarified that there are no plans for a tax package that would either increase or decrease general tax rates.
Minister Şimşek further elaborated on the tax package expectations, stating:
“The issue of taxation of stock exchanges and cryptocurrencies is not a priority for us at the moment.
“In the upcoming legislative period, we do not intend to introduce a tax package focused on altering general tax rates. Our focus will remain on evaluating tax exemptions and reductions from the perspective of efficiency and effectiveness, as outlined in the OVP.”
