MetalCore, the mech shooter game, is gearing up to launch its open beta on the Epic Games Store on September 12, marking the debut of its first in-game season titled “MetalPunk Rhapsody.” This significant milestone will see the Ethereum-based game, which operates on the Immutable zkEVM layer-2 scaling network, undergo an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5, accompanied by a range of new features.
The highly-anticipated shooter, which drew comparisons to a blend of Titanfall and Destiny during initial previews, has spent the past six months in closed beta phases. Studio369, the game’s developer, is now inviting players from all backgrounds to experience the game firsthand.
Coinciding with the open beta launch, MetalCore has made the transition to Unreal Engine 5, the latest iteration of the powerful game engine widely utilized in the gaming industry, including by major AAA studios. The migration to Unreal Engine 5 is expected to enhance the gameplay experience, ensuring smoother performance compared to its previous Unreal Engine 4 iteration.
The introduction of MetalPunk Rhapsody will usher in the game’s new seasonal format, where each season is anticipated to span approximately four weeks. Players will have the opportunity to earn seasonal rewards, including exclusive prizes for those who excel in the rankings.
In a bid to immerse players in the rich lore of MetalCore, each season will spotlight a different faction within the game’s universe. The inaugural season will showcase the MetalPunk faction through themed content, character skins, and engaging storylines.
Exciting new in-game features await players, including the introduction of player-vs-environment (PvE) raids where up to 10 players from the same faction must collaborate to defeat a formidable alien species and secure vital resources. This new game mode aims to test players’ teamwork skills within their respective factions.
Furthermore, vehicles and mechs in MetalCore will now boast new rarity and strength attributes, while the game’s mission system has undergone a substantial update. Introductory missions have been enhanced for new players, with fresh content added for existing players to explore.
The move to open beta follows the launch of MetalCore’s native token MCG in June, which coincided with a previous closed beta test. While players previously required an Epic Games Store key or one of the five available Founders Packs to access the closed beta, the upcoming open beta on September 12 will be accessible to all interested players looking to dive into the action.
With these exciting developments on the horizon, MetalCore is set to redefine the mech shooter genre and captivate players with its immersive gameplay experience. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to join the MetalPunk Rhapsody season and embark on thrilling battles in a futuristic world filled with excitement and challenge.
