The developers behind the Ethereum action game Moonray have exciting news for fans: a mobile auto-battler game is set to launch early next year as a companion to the original battle arena game. This new game will be set in the same futuristic “post-human” world as Moonray, using the same assets and offering special rewards for Moonray token holders.
Auto-battler games, also known as “auto chess” games, involve strategic gameplay where players place characters on a board to battle automatically against opponents. Moonray’s entry into this genre promises more in-depth resource management and counterplay, along with integration of Web3 technology.
The upcoming mobile auto-battler will expand the Moonray universe, which currently includes the sci-fi combat arena game and graphic novels. Moonray initially started as a Bitcoin layer-2 project on Stacks but transitioned to Ethereum for its competitive multiplayer combat gameplay. The mobile auto-battler is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2025.
Though the new game doesn’t have an official name yet, it will offer rewards to incentivize competitive play. Players can earn the MNRY token through tournaments and use it to unlock special content within the game. Moonray co-founder Hans Andersson hinted at plans to expand the Moonray IP into different genres in the future.
In addition to gaming, Moonray has delved into other art forms like graphic novels, with plans to collaborate with animation studio ReelFX on animated content. The team’s ultimate goal is to create an animated series that brings the Moonray universe to life.
The release of the mobile auto-battler game aims to make the Moonray IP more accessible to a wider audience. While the combat arena game is currently only available on PC, the mobile game will allow players to experience the post-human world on their smartphones. Stay tuned for more updates on Moonray’s expanding universe.
