Roguelike role-playing-game (RPG) Castile has officially launched its monthlong open beta today, accompanied by a rewards campaign that will distribute 10 million CAST tokens before the token’s official launch. The developer of the game, Nytro Lab, has secured an additional $8 million in investment, bringing their total funding to $25 million.
The game, based in Aptos, combines the traditional roguelike gameplay of dungeon exploration and leveling up with RPG elements. Additionally, the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) allows players to trade in-game cards on a marketplace.
Since the alpha testing phase in May, Castile has introduced four new features. These include the introduction of Tarot cards, described as the most powerful hero accessory in the game, allowing players significant advantages. Players can now purchase equipment and items using Tarot coins, participate in boss battles, and enter new tournaments for rewards.

During the beta phase, player progress will be reset at the end. However, participants will receive a portion of the 10 million CAST tokens based on their performance across various in-game activities such as league rankings, arena battles, campaigns, and Gate of Hell challenges.
The CAST token will serve as the governance token for Castile, as outlined in Nytro Lab’s tokenomics page, though it has yet to be officially launched.
The beta testing period for Castile will run from September 10 to October 10, available on iOS, Android, and PC platforms. Details on how to claim beta rewards will be communicated through Castile’s social media channels.
Simultaneously with the beta launch, Nytro Lab has secured an additional $8 million in funding, led by SevenX Ventures and including investments from entities like OKX Ventures, Aptos Labs, and HashKey Capital. This funding boost brings the studio’s total investment to $25 million.
The investment will be utilized to facilitate regular content updates, organize community-driven events, and support partnerships. This includes the implementation of new social features and expanding the in-game marketplace.
Nytro Lab’s co-founder, Arthur Kao, expressed excitement about the investment, emphasizing the studio’s commitment to enhancing Castile with new content and leveraging blockchain technology to create more engaging gaming experiences.
