OverTrip, a vibrant third-person battle royale shooter, has made its debut on PC through the Epic Games Store, kicking off its third season of in-game content. One of the exciting new additions is the introduction of a “skill mode,” where players can wager real money on their performance, including the game’s recently launched meme coin.
The game is a multi-chain project, with its token launching on Solana, NFTs minted on the Ethereum mainnet, and plans to expand to the Ethereum layer-2 network Soneium, a collaboration between Sony and Startale.
On November 30, OverTrip launched its Solana token TRIP via Pump.fun. This token serves as a means to buy and sell in-game skins, distributed to players through various schemes, and powers the game’s “skill mode.” Currently, TRIP is down by 23% and holds a market cap of $5.5 million.
The new skill mode allows players to place bets ranging from $0.10 to $0.99 on whether they will place in the top three of a match. Successful bets result in token rewards, while unsuccessful ones lead to losing the wagered amount. Additionally, players can also wager and earn the SuperVerse token SUPER through this mode. OverTrip has received an “Adults Only” rating from the ESRB due to its real money wagering features.
The latest update for OverTrip includes private lobbies with customizable wager terms, new skins, and a deathmatch mode. The game has also increased the player count in its flagship battle royale mode from 20 to 50, intensifying the battles for supremacy.
TRIP was stealthily launched on November 30, with a portion allocated for player rewards, marketing, and exchange listings. Surprisingly, there was no formal token allocation for the team, but team members could have purchased tokens before the announcement. The team is working on providing an on-chain report for transparency regarding the token’s distribution.
Players who participated in the game’s play-to-airdrop campaigns have received TRIP tokens via Trippy Terminal, which auto-generates a Solana wallet for users. However, some players have expressed disappointment with what they consider to be small airdrop allocations, humorously lamenting their inability to afford even a toy Lamborghini.
The gaming community often experiences underwhelming airdrop campaigns, similar to tap-to-earn games that provide minimal rewards after extended gameplay. As OverTrip continues to evolve with its new features and content, players eagerly anticipate further updates and improvements to enhance their gaming experience.
